Cold and Family Outings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As I write this article in early December, old man winter has been playing peek-a-boo with us lately.&nbsp; Just a short while back, we had temperatures in the teens.&nbsp; The other day we were in the 60-degree range.&nbsp; Hard to tell if he\u2019s ever going to arrive.&nbsp; I\u2019m certain though, that he\u2019ll be right around the corner sooner or later!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many anglers simply stop fishing this time of year due to\nthe cold.&nbsp; They hang their gear up to\nstay inside.&nbsp; This is a plus for those of\nus that are resilient enough to get out and brave the cold to fish.&nbsp; Less anglers on the streams mean less\npressured fish.&nbsp; This is usually a bonus\nto those that venture out to wet a line!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"740\" src=\"https:\/\/reeleminguideservice.com\/blue-ridge-fishing\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Daughter-Jessica.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reeleminguideservice.com\/blue-ridge-fishing\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Daughter-Jessica.jpeg 720w, 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fishing for trout is normally good until the water\ntemperature falls to around the 40-degree mark.&nbsp;\nOnce it stabilizes around this temperature, trout will become lethargic\nand no longer have the need to feed as much.&nbsp;\nLethargic fish can still be caught but you must have patience and be\nwell dressed to match the conditions.&nbsp;\nPrime hours to be on the water are from 10 am to 4 pm, or whenever the\nsun is up and warming the valley floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fishing can be a fun way for families to enjoy the great\noutdoors.&nbsp; Our guides have always prided\nthemselves in sharing their knowledge about the fish we chase.&nbsp; Some families have no idea about fly fishing\nbut want to learn or try something outside of the box.&nbsp; It\u2019s not only a great way to build rapport\nwith each other but can lead to numerous outings to share with one\nanother.&nbsp; We take many couples on their\nfirst outings.&nbsp; Some will bring their\nchildren to learn this sport.&nbsp; Others may\nbring their entire family.&nbsp; No matter how\nthey come, we are always willing to teach the art of fly fishing to those\nwanting to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\"
